Duncraig Castle Welcomes You

A spectacular Highland Castle located in beautiful wooded grounds in a stunning coastal setting overlooking Plockton, one of Scotland’s prettiest coastal villages. Enjoy the views across to the Applecross Peninsula, Loch Carron, and just minutes to the Isle of Skye. The Castle is surrounded by specimen trees, has exclusive beach access and its own railway station. Simply breathtaking.

Duncraig Castle was built in 1866 by Sir Alexander Matheson, who acquired a vast fortune trading in the Far East. Retiring at the age of 36, he served as a Member of Parliament and was created a baronet in 1882. Matheson bought large tracts of the Highlands, and at one stage owned 122,000 acres. Duncraig Castle was built to entertain his friends and acquaintances on a grand scale. Matheson considered a railway station to be essential for the convenience of his numerous guests and arranged for the castle’s own station to be built!

Duncraig Castle now belongs to Suzanne Hazeldine, who looks forward to welcoming you into her home.  The Castle is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and is due to open in 2019 for bed & breakfast accommodation.
